Lake Kaņieris and a boat station

Description

Lake Kaņieris is situated in the territory of the Ķemeri National Park between Lapmežciems and Ragaciems. It is one of the best birdwatching places in the Ķemeri National Park. The lake has 14 islands, and a total of about 237 bird species have been observed here (in Latvia, altogether 342 bird species are recorded). In 1989, the lake was included on the list of important European bird sites.

A boat station is set up on Lake Kaņieris, where you can rent boats and water bicycles to see the lake landscape and shore in the lake away from the banks. Fishermen here can catch pike, roaches, rudd, trench, perch, and bream, as well as other fish. You can fish on the lake only from boats rented at the boat station. Tent and picnic sites are set up near the lake.
