The museum is set up in a building constructed in the late 19th century for hospital needs. Later, it hosted a German school, warehouse and bank. The Kandava Municipality Museum was opened in 1995 and it is based on the collection of cultural history legacy gathered by the teacher and historian Viktors Vītols.
Visitors to the museum can learn about the town’s history from the most ancient times up to the modern day. By making advance arrangements, you can taste the Kandava acorn coffee and buy it as a souvenir.
