Wind garden in Smārde

Description

The “Wind garden” is not far from the Smārde railroad station, next to the monument created by the prominent Latvian sculptor Kārlis Zāle. It is a park – a tree nursery created in line with the design by the landscape designer Dace Lukševica. More than 100 varieties of plants, trees, and shrubs are planted at the scenic park – altogether about 550 units in an area of 1.9 hectares. Each plant group has its unique name. The “Wind garden” was planted by the local residents of Smārde with their very own hands, and that is why in the park, which was opened in fall of 2012, you will encounter the good thoughts, positive energy, and love of diligent people. The pleasant aura of the park is fortified with ancient Latvian fertility, harmony, and love songs performed by folklore groups. The park is a wonderful place for relaxation together with children. A view opens up from the artificially created hillock down to the big swing and the sports trail and pathways with many fun activities for spending your time.
