Blossoming gardens in and around Tukums invites to enjoy the explosion of colour!
Many people love the month of June precisely because of the blossoming peonies and irises, which liven up every garden, evoke sentimental childhood memories, and charm with their elegance and fragrance even in the simplest of vases. July will see the peak of rose-blossoming season, while late July and August are the time for hydrangeas.
A peony collection garden that is the first to start blooming in the Tukums region. You will find the garden in Slampe rural municipality showcasing around 1400 varieties of peonies across a wide range of colour. You can also buy cut flowers from the garden. Admission EUR 5; free admission to children and senior citizens.
A scenic garden in the rural municipality of Irlava with more than 777 varieties of peonies. Several cosy spots are set up here for you to enjoy the peony blossoms and the scenery, as well as take photos. You can sip a cup of tea or coffee and go to the Peony Festival. In 2026, the festival will take place on 13 June from 12:00. Admission to the garden and Peony Festival by donation.
A peony collection garden in Ķesterciems — only a few hundred metres from the seashore. It charms the visitors with approximately 1000 varieties of peonies. You can also buy seedlings here. Several photo spots have been set up in the garden for visitors to take fantastic photos, and on 20 June at 14:00, the Garden Festival will take place here. Admission to the garden is by donation; admission to the Garden Festival is EUR 7.
“Garden of irises” of Laimonis Zaķis
The garden of irises in the area of Kandava is owned by the selectionist of gladiolas and irises Laimonis Zaķis, who has been selecting plants for over 30 years now. The number of varieties of bulbous flowers — irises, gladiolas and other varieties — created by him now exceeds several hundreds. Irises start blossoming here already in May. To help you find the garden, look for Līga’s Mill turn-off from the Riga–Ventspils highway in the direction of Kandava. Admission: donations.
Rose collection garden “Rozītes”
The rose garden is set up in Sēme rural municipality and is the love-child of Daila and Bruno Trubiņi. At the nursery, the Trubiņi family cultivate, test and select only the most beautiful and resilient rose varieties for the collection. They buy the young plants from the largest European and best Latvian rose growers. The visitors can explore the plant nursery and receive consultations about rose cultivation, as well as buy rose plants. The vast garden is designed as an ornamental garden featuring many charming corners filled with flowers for visitors to relax and unwind. The roses are already blossoming in the greenhouse, while in the garden they begin to flower in early July. Admission to the garden EUR 6.
Hydrangea Garden “Celmu pasaule”
A nursery that grows flower seedlings and more; hydrangeas are the owners’ true passion and love. In this part of the world, they start blooming in July. Various species of hydrangeas with both panicle and shrubby, snow-white and soft pink flower clusters and flower cones are sure to charm the visitors. If you have a private residence with a garden, then you might go home buying some hydrangea plants. Free admission to the plant nursery and garden.
