The Ancestor Oak-tree in Kaive (Kaives Senču ozols)

Description

The Ancestor Oak-tree in Kaiveis the biggest oak tree in the Baltics (circumference – 10 m). Today, its magnitude is not as impressive anymore, because in the 20-ties of the 20th century, lightning bolt struck its tip, but in year 1990, a half of the branches broke off. Now, only one branch remains, but the oak keeps growing. The researchers think that the tree is approximately 1000 years old.
