Stone-cutter’s Workshop Kaltakmens

When you arrive in Pūre, you will notice scattered interesting stone sculptures: owls, frogs, images of women, a monument to the jester, among others. Many of the sculptures have found home in gardens across Latvia and beyond its borders. The author of these pieces is a local resident Gatis Celitāns. Born, raised and attended a school right here in Pūre. Gatis mastered the stone-cutter’s craft on his own, and stone-cutting has now become an excellent family hobby, because Gatis’ son gladly works on a boulder, too. When visiting the workshop, guests can check out items made of Latvian boulders.
